Department of Orthopedic Sufgery, School of Medicine, Ch:engang University, Seoul Many orthopedic authorities devised numerable bone grafting methods to promote the union in treatment of delayed union and nonunion cases, a troublesome complication of thefractures.
Secure internal fixation by means of fixation devices and cancellous bone chipsgraft with adequate postoperative immobilization for sufficient time are the current trends in treatment of nonunions of the fractures.
R. Judet in 1962 advocated his osteoperiosteal decortication was superior to other bone grafting methods and confirmed faster and firmer healing in clinical applications for the treatment of delayed and nonunion patients.
By using the osteoperiosteal decortication of Judet, 3 delayed union patients of long bones including the case complicated by infection were treated succesfully from October 1973 to October 1974 With brief review of osteoperiosteal decortication, experience in 3 cases is presented.
